Smashed phone, broken tv and unhelpful staff. Don’t get me started on the lifeless bed!
The most unhelp staff in hotel history Firstly would I stay here again? Absolutely not. We had a number of small issues with our stay and if they had been rectified while we were there I would have had a more neutral review. Our smart tv dosnt work, it turns on and off so we are unable to use it, equally it’s not ideal turning on at random moments. We notified staff that our tv did not work at 3:45pm shortly after check in along with the issue that the phone in our room had been smashed and had exposed wiring. They told us we’ll send maintenance to fix it, no apology or any sort of “sorry for inconvenience” So we waited for a few hours but no one arrived so we went out. As two new parents on their first time away from baby, the only thing we wanted to do was sit with a cup of tea and watch tv after a late night at the AO.. I went to reception before heading up to the room at 11:45pm and asked if the issues had been fixed and gave the gentleman a run down. He quickly called our phone in the room and said yes but that still works.. not what I had asked, the safety element of the wires was the concern anyway the tv, he said he can see the notes on the system and that maintenance had been told but if I could let him know… so I need to go to my room to then wait for maintenance to arrive at anytime this late at night? I think not. Again no sorry for the inconvenience or any emotion at all. Guess what, the tv didn’t work. The staff are robotic and lack any kind of common curtsy. I can not believe I contacted reception twice and I was still no closer to getting a working tv or any form of apology. Even a fake sorry at this point would have done! Now things about the hotel beyond the control of the staff - The beds! 0 for confront. Hard mattress and the pillows are lifeless. Bring your own!! It has to go down for me as one of the worst beds in a hotel I have ever been too. Good points because it’s not all bad - Location the hotel is very central and is in good walking distance from everything and the outside noise is very limited. The rooms are clean and modern. Would I stay here again? Absolutely not. The comfort of the bed would have been enough to put me off staying with the chain again but to then have the rude and awful encounters we had due to things in our room not working, I would avoid at all costs. We’ve stayed at budget hotels in Manchester that had staff that smile and pillow that are plump! Edit - We told reception as we left about the issues and we got our first apology… which then opened up a can of worms. We were told twice that maintenance would be up to fix our tv to find out it’s a third party service provider so it was never going to be fixed during our stay. We were never offered to swap rooms during our stay which would have made the most difference if the tv could not be fixed. Ahmed offered us complimentary breakfast which we appreciated but we just wanted to leave as we got straight up and checked out. He also said if we came back he would look after us which again the thought was there but a little too late for us. We paid for a room that listed on their website a room that includes a tv with all these smart features so for me we have not received what we have paid for.

Terrible customer experience
Service was atrocious - Nearly got charged on check in despite already paying in advance, no apology from receptionist. - 'Romance package' is simply a scattering of rose petals with a bottle of white wine (£35) - Insects were found on the roof and wardrobes were damaged. - Complained to hotel staff and was told I can get complimentary beers for compensation. This was refused. Ended up getting free breakfast for the next morning. - Tv has chromecast option but chromecast doesn't work. Tv also switches off intermittently. - Complained (yet again) at the front desk and was offered another room citing a cancellation. Other room had no air conditioning/heating. Local temperatures being -3 degrees Celsius that night. - Returned back to the original room with no assistance from hotel staff. Promised to be given an upgraded room for the next day as soon as it was available. No upgrade was issued. All in all, the only positive is the bed was comfortable. Other than that, this hotel is a budget hotel parading as an AC hotel. Staff have poor conflict resolution skills and, facilities barely work. Disappointing when compared to the Birmingham equivalent.

Freezing cold hotel
This hotel is absolutely freezing cold. The rooms are limited to a 25 degree setting but it feels about 16 degrees. A tiny additional radiator has been provided which is ineffective. Slept with dressing gown on and my coat on top of duvet and was still freezing cold. Only 2 tea bags provided in room, hardly any sugar etc. very poor all round for a 4 star hotel. BTW, it’s -2 outside so hot drinks and a warm room are essential.

Disappointing stay.
On arrival the hotel looked very modern and smart. Check in was quick and easy. When i arrived in the room, i immediately noticed it was very cold. Initially the room did look nice. But i quickly realised there were what looked like blood stains on the bedding. I rang down to reception and informed them of the dirty bedding and i was bluntly told “house keeping would change the bedding.” There was no apology offered. The bedding was then promptly changed. Upon further inspection of the room there were stained bath towels, bare exposed wires and just a poor finishing touch on the room. Not what you would expect from a 4* hotel. I then went down to reception to inform them that i couldn’t get the heating to work in our room and that i was cold and I once again had a rude blunt response and was told i must have the aircon on the wrong setting, which I did not. Eventually the receptionist said i could have a heater sent up to the room and a small oil radiator was put in my room which did make the room warmer. There is also a lot of road noise and you can hear upstairs/ adjacent rooms very clearly so wouldn’t recommended if you’re a light sleeper. In the night i could hear people going to the toilet and using the tap/ shower in other rooms. The bed was okay, quite firm and the pillows were quite flat. There were white robes and slippers supplied which was a nice touch. The WiFi was very very slow so when trying to watch programmes on the television it kept timing out and showing error codes. There were lights and lamps which didn’t work and needed new bulbs and there was mould in the shower. Overall a disappointing stay. The hotel appears to be all style no substance. It looks smart on initial inspection but then fails to meet the bare minimum expectations such as clean bedding and towels, a warm room etc. i have stayed in cheaper and nicer premier inns. Such a shame as the hotel has a lot of potential.

Basic, not worth £270 for one night.
So, I paid £271 for ONE NIGHT, as we were having a night away for my 40th birthday. To be honest, I feel utterly ripped off. The hotel itself is nice. Check-in was smooth. The room was clean but quite basic. It had a fridge that didn't work, had a shower head that wouldn't stay upright, and the minibar consisted of a carton of water. The phone had all the wires hanging out of it. There was zero information given regarding room service. There were no leaflets or booklets in the room, not what you expect for a supposed 4*. If I'm honest, it wasn't great and I won't be returning. The Premier Inn was better in my experience. The cherry on the cake was on checkout. I was asked to review at least a 9 on booking.com I said I may have done had I not been charged £200 more for a Saturday night in comparison to a Sunday, and he just laughed and said "supply and demand". I TOTALLY get that, but don't rip people off. It's a Travelodge dressed up as the Hilton.
