    Would not recommend

No cold A/C in room, sewage/pipes made room have a foul smell, staff not friendly, language barrier - most staff with exception of reception only spoke Spanish. Food was mediocre. Towels in room were not always clean. Room was not cleaned well upon arrival. Not enough activities to do at the resort , and some cost extra when this is an “all inclusive” resort. Would not stay at this place again.

    DO NOT STAY HERE

this was my second resort I have stayed at in the DR while I can say this is a place I will never need to visit again the resort itself was gross. The rooms are dirty and not cleaned properly. There BLACK MOLD in my room. Floor was dirty, housekeeping did not even clean the room everyday. I did not have clean towels every day nor did I even have a wash cloth at any point of my stay, even after I requested multiples times and spoke to the housekeeper who did not speak any English much like all of the unfriendly staff here. It seems all the employees are miserable and just there for a check. Service was terrible in the restaurants it took over 20 minutes and 3 attempts to get a spoon one morning. Tables were always dirty and not set quickly. The food was disgusting everyone in our 19 party group either had stomach problems OR actually got sick. I watched as one lady was “cleaning” the top of the warming try at the buffet and SPRAYED CLEANING SPRAY ABOVE WHERE FOOD WAS SITTING. I did not have a single good meal here the drinks were just as terrible. As much as DR is known for their coffee, which they sell in the shop you can’t even get a fresh cup of brewed coffee. Everything is a machine and SELF SERVICE. Horrible experience, I am leaving feeling worse than when I came and this was supposed to be a vacation. I couldn’t wait to leave and go home.

    Ana was our savior!

I’ve seen a lot of complaints and we had the absolute best time. We did have issues with our first room but Ana Bonilla was amazing and got us right into a new room the 2nd day. We stayed in a family duplex and it had 3 beds and 2 bathrooms. Ana assisted us with reservations and anything that we needed! We loved Santa Fe, La Dolce Vita, and Kyoto. We hope to return!

🚫 Do Not Stay at Barceló Bávaro Palace – A Total Disgrace to Hospitality

🚫 Do Not Stay at Barceló Bávaro Palace – A Total Disgrace to Hospitality If you're planning a trip to Punta Cana, let me save you the disappointment: DO NOT book Barceló Bávaro Palace. This resort is an overpriced, overhyped nightmare that will leave you frustrated, disrespected, and wondering how they’ve stayed in business this long. 🔴 Reception & Service – A Total Joke After a long, exhausting trip, you’ll wait 30–60 minutes at check-in. No real welcome, no priority for premium guests, and barely any English spoken by the front desk. The staff seem confused, untrained, and overwhelmed. Want a welcome drink? You'll have to chase someone down — no one offers you anything. 🔴 Dishonest Staff & Room Scams A front desk staff member tried to trick me into paying more for a smaller room, calling it an “upgrade.” If I hadn’t noticed, I would’ve been overcharged for a downgrade. This was outright dishonest. 🔴 Bars & Drinks = Cheap, Deceptive, and Disrespectful There’s only ONE cheap beer option, no matter what package you buy — even with premium. Lines are long everywhere, and bartenders were blatantly racist. At the pool bar, I asked for a fresh coconut or pineapple drink. Two bartenders looked at each other, spoke in Spanish, and told me “no.” One minute later, they served a fresh pineapple drink to another guest — who just happened to not look like me. I was stunned. I didn’t even bother fighting it — they didn’t speak English and clearly didn’t care. But the worst part? Most employees knew we were upset, clearly frustrated, and unhappy — and they simply didn’t care. They’d argue back, say something dismissive in Spanish, or just walk away. No apology, no accountability, no customer service. 🔴 Food – Bland, Recycled, and Borderline Inedible Across restaurants, the food felt like leftovers being passed around and reheated. Don’t expect anything fresh or flavorful. Even basic requests (like fresh jalapeños) were denied — even though they’re used in the kitchen. International/Asian Food Option? An embarrassment. No curry, no spice, no authenticity. They served one bland daal dish, and that was it. If you enjoy real Asian food — run the other direction. 🔴 “Premium Package” = Premium Scam and Waste of Money We booked premium and tried to make restaurant reservations on day one — everything was already full. So why pay for premium if it gives you nothing extra? 🔴 Getting Around = Frustrating & Exhausting Be ready to either walk 6–7 miles a day or wait 15+ minutes for their slow, unreliable shuttle. Even then, they drop you far from your actual destination. It’s not convenience — it’s a chore. 🔴 Booking External Activities? Prepare for Petty Hassles If you don’t book through them, they’ll make your life difficult. We had to go upstairs, downstairs, back to guest services, just to allow our external excursion pickup. Pure punishment for not giving them more money. 🔴 Even the Basics Come with a Price Tag Need to weigh your luggage before heading home? There’s a scale at the front desk, but it’s not free — you have to pay. It’s only $1, but the point is: this place constantly nickel-and-dimes you while pretending it’s all-inclusive. It’s a scam in disguise — and you feel it everywhere you go. FINAL THOUGHT: Barceló Bávaro Palace is not a luxury resort. It’s a poorly run, frustrating, and at times discriminatory experience that ruins the joy of your vacation. I am sure and hope there are far better, more respectful, and guest-friendly resorts in Punta Cana. DO NOT BOOK HERE. YOU DESERVE BETTER.
