December 2024
Travelled with family (Dec 24-Jan7,2025) -The property looks appealing, the grounds well maintained and clean -Rooms are clean but dated not a 41/2 star hotel max 31/2 star -Variety of food is ok, not great but you can find something to eat ....one Buffet Restaurant, 3 a la carte (Japanese, Mexican and Italian), a Snack Bar by the pool and a place by the beach where at noon they will prepare some lunch (open for about one hour or so). *Japanese Restaurant needs reservation, they put up a nice show but the food is overcooked and cold *Italian Restaurant doesn't need a reservation but you need to line up well before 7pm in order to get in. The food its not very good, presentation is lucking and most of the dishes are made from frozen (Also there are lots of cats rooming around which is unsanitary and unpleasant). *Mexican Restaurant no reservation need it. In order to get in line up early like 6pm for 7pm. The food is good, service great and cozy environment. The best among all the restaurants. Beach is an ecological disaster, not clean, the water is murky and unappealing due to the floating garbage. If you like to walk on the beach you will find tons of garbage which its never collected. It seams that its part of the décor and none of the workers see it. To make things worse the beach is full of people which are trying to sell you something (mostly praying on the young adults), harassing you constantly despite your refusal) Also every day at the beach some cruises travelers are coming with the day pass at the resort which makes the beach even more crowded and unwelcomed. The are some hotel workers which pretend they are your concierge and trying to lure you into presentations to sale you time share. They are pushy, lairs and promising anything just to participate. Our 'concierge name is STAR ...stay away To replace our tv remove control batteries took 4 days and escalation to a manager. Despite majority of their clientele is either Canadian or Americans all the channels are in Spanish except for 2 ...go figure The staff is nice but because they don't speak English they will avoid you The wines are bad cause they try to sale you theirs for 3x the price Overall it was rather expensive for the value We won't return

january trip
The resort grounds were very nice and keeped up with. The pool was dirty had bandaids dead bugs and hair floating in the pool. The drinks were ok some bartenders made better drinks than others but the same stuff got old after a few days. The Japaness restaurant was the best than mexican. They say you don't need a restaurant for mexican or Italian but if not down when they open you will have a very long wait. The rooms are dated but ok nothing fancy have no drawers to put any of yours clothes. My hair dryer didn't work went to call down for new one phone didn't work had to walk down to tell them said we will put in for new one my husband said we are getting ready need know didnt get til we were back for the night, safe wouldn't open had to wait til after midnight for someone to come open it door keys stopped working had to walk back down for new ones. The beach water isn't clear at all and trash all over place and seeweed. The staff was nice some nicer than others not a bad stay but wont be back. And in the pool bathroom found blood on wall that was gross.Beautiful peacocks all over.

An overall good experience
This resort is very pretty and offers good value, although I would not consider it a 5 star. The grounds are well kept, the service is very attentive, the pool area is very nice with lively, fun activities, but the rooms are very dated. BEACH - The beach at this Costa Dorada location is not nearly as nice as other DR beaches because of some seaweed during the winter months. However, they do clean up the seaweed daily, and if you walk up a bit you will find pretty spots to swim or lay out (see pictures posted). I also noticed there were no vendors walking on the beach. The resort seems to do a pretty good job of keeping them off the beach area. DINING - Their main buffet restaurant is pretty good and varied, there's also a good beachside buffet restaurant which becomes the Italian à la carte restaurant at night. There are two à la carte restaurants, a Mexican one near the buffet restaurant, which we liked, and the Italian one by the beach, which was not so great. Although we liked the caprese salad, minestrone soup, and the chicken parm, we generally found that the food at the buffet was better. ENTERTAINMENT- They have cookouts on the beach, like paella day, and chow fun day, and live entertainment at night by the lobby, with fun shows encouraging guest interaction. On weekend nights they usually also feature a live band playing typical merengue and island music. There's also a nightclub which opens at 11pm and during the day it is a theater featuring movies for kids' entertainment. DRINKS - There are bars conveniently located all throughout the resort, and the drinks are ok, decent, but not top shelf unless you upgrade to premium level. Overall, it is a very lovely resort, offering an enjoyable stay and good value.

Wasn’t expecting this
Not a 5 star hotel. If you have the money go elsewhere. Bad English, staff ignore you, can be rude, lots of low life looking people, they don’t have servers on the beach, beach is dirty, ocean not clean. What I would do though is upgrade to the prestige, made or stay better. The alcohol was much better. Overall this place has inaccurate reviews and should be a 3 at best
