    Excellent Second Visit

Just returned from our second visit to Live Aqua. We rarely visit the same location twice, but decided to go back to Live Aqua for my wife’s 40th birthday because our first trip was so nice. Once again the service and accommodations exceeded expectations. We would recommend springing for a suite if you can swing it. This not only gives you access to the Aqua (VIP) Club with excellent service from Guillermo and crew, but also provides a daily reserved cabana with 20 minute foot massage and the ability to make reservations at restaurants through your butler. For us, these perks made all the difference. We particularly enjoyed the very swimmable beach, getting as much room service whenever we wanted, and spending time on our balcony. The service was spectacular. Our butlers Stephany and Arturo were incredibly friendly and responsive. We communicated with them easily through WhatsApp to book reservations, spa appointments, or for any variety of request. Our favorite restaurant was Carnivore. This is the one restaurant that’s not included in the all inclusive, but was perfect for a birthday dinner. After that, MB and Siete were also quite good. We also thought the little grills set up outside for lunch were awesome. The tacos and paella were particularly delicious. Finally, we’d like to thank Elizabeth at Siete for her excellent service. Out of all our servers, she stood out for her professional, personalized and cheerful demeanor.

    11 years and counting

This was our 11th year at Live Aqua and we were just as excited to return this year as we were to go our first time. I could say it's the views, weather, beach, grounds, rooms, pool, food, or drinks that bring us back every year -- and this would all be true -- but it's really the staff. Staff like Cesar (Siete), David (poolside), Maggie (Aqua Club), and Eladio (Aqua Club) are the highlight of our trip and what bring us back to Live Aqua every year. The level of professionalism, kindness, and enthusiasm is unmatched. We are always welcomed back with a smile, a hug, and sometimes even a flaming coffee! There's really no place like Live Aqua.

Very Good Food in an Ageing Property

First visit to Live Aqua.... For comparison we've stayed at Secrets Maroma,Secrets Akumal, Hyatt Zilara, the VIM and Barcelo. We aren't usually all inclusive people, but Costco Travel had a great deal that was hard to pass up. I'll touch on things that I haven't seen mentioned in recent reviews. First, the food here was good to excellent. And honestly the best food and an AI that we've had. MB being the star and Hidden Garden being just ok. Carnivore is insanely expensive and you only receive a $50 food credit as a guest. Carnivore is open to the public. The breakfast buffet was underwhelming, so we ate breakfast mostly at Azur: Azur had excellent bacon! There are plenty of options around the pool for lunch: Order from one of the servers (typical Mexican fare), or there are 2 grill stations: One had chicken and ribs every day and the other had burgers and hotdogs every day (not sure why you'd want that in Mexico, but to each their own). The chicken was excellent and the ribs were decent. Keep in mind the food stations don't open until 1 pm. And even though the servers will take an order for food at noon, it likely won't arrive until 1. Alcohol selection was very good, but excellent in the Aqua club. It would be nice if they had some Aqua club selections at other bars for those that upgraded. Aqua club had a nice selection of Tequila's, up to Don Julio Anejo. They even had a bottle of Buffalo Trace! Drinks around the pool are not too strong, so ask for a double shot. Aqua club was worth the upgrade for us..... Decent selection of snacks, and our room was 3 doors down, which was nice. Only criticism is it's understaffed. I felt bad for the one attendant that was running around trying to take care of 20 guests. So at busy times it can take a while to get a drink. The rooms are pretty standard hotel type rooms with a very nice bath. Beds were firm, but comfortable. The shades are automatic. So... If you decide to head the the room during the day to have yourself a poo.... be prepared! If you sit for more than a few minutes, the shades WILL close on you and the lights will turn off! It got dark really quick, and I had to fumble around for the sensor to sense that I was still in the room. Service was very good. Everyone was friendly, but I didn't feel that it was exceptional enough to single anyone out. Our butler's were friendly and helped with dinner reservations (only for suite guests and Aqua Club). A note on restaurants.... If you can't make a reservation, you will likely wait about an hour at peak meal time. Many guests were visibly upset when we walked into all of the restaurants while they had been waiting quite some time. A note on pools.... The main pool has a shallow walk way between the beach side and the hotel side. It took us 3 days to realize this and would have saved alot of walking around. The pools are all heated, several are warmer than others. One thing I'm not a fan of is the need to pay for a Cabana. If you don't you have to be up before the rooster's to get one of the few "free" places to sit at the pool and beach. One final note is that the property is beginning to show its age. Pool tiles are warn and faded, paint on metal surfaces is bubbling and peeling. That being said, it wasn't as bad as I've seen at other AI's. We'd return if we could get a similar deal that we found with Costco Travel. We just feel we get better bang for our buck doing VRBO on Isla.

Where we go to relax and enjoy remarkable service - not lose weight

Incredible food and nice suite but the service is why we return every year. Recommend you pay for the Aqua Lounge. Daniel and Guillermo are worth the price of admission. Butlers this trip were Maggie and Eladio. Super helpful. Everything about the venue is great but don't miss out on the food prepared around the pool. Incredible Paella and, oddly, the best hamburger I have ever had. This place gets rave reviews for a reason.

Live Aqua Cancun: Another Fantastic Stay with Exceptional Service

Our recent stay at Live Aqua was fantastic- with special thanks to our butlers, Maggie & Eladio! They were super helpful with multiple daily check-ins and accommodating any requests/ questions that we had. The weather was perfect and we spent most of the week at a mezzanine cabana or in the infinity pool. Maria was such a friendly cabana server our first day, and David was top-notch as our primary cabana server the rest of our stay- we were so happy to see him again after meeting him last year. Room: We tried to book the same Viento suite as last year, and were slightly disappointed upon check-in since last year’s Viento suite was much larger with two showers, and had far more balcony space- plus a terrace. We didn’t spend that much time in the room of course, so not a big deal! Pools: All of the pools were clean, never felt crowded, and the pool activities were entertaining. The wait time for cabana check-in was pretty long each morning; we had the same cabana reserved every day since it was included in the suite package; it would have been helpful if this wait time could be avoided since reservations were already made in advance. Food and drink: The restaurant and bar services were all outstanding, the food and beverages were delicious. We especially loved Azur, Sea Corner, and AKA Bar!
