Value for money
Budget friendly resort. Average service. Bar service is terrible. Beach is really nice, but no shade to be found. Lack of chairs on the beach. We had to get up at 6 am to save chairs if we wanted to sit as a family. We had 7 people in our group. 3 families took turns over the 10 days we stayed. Twice towels went missing from our chairs. They need more shade in both the beach and pool areas.

Incredible Staff, Lovely Resort
What an amazing staff, starting with our check-in experience (Guillermo), to dining (everyone!), room service, and most importantly, Guest Services. Mariel and Anny went above and beyond after we had left an important item back in our hotel room. They not only retrieved it, but packed it up and helped coordinate its return to us in NY. It was a huge relief for us, and they were so thorough and a joy to deal with. This speaks to the entire resort - the staff here are friendly, always willing to help, and genuinely care to make your experience one to remember. The New Year’s Eve festivities were incredible, and the dining spread was the most festive we had ever seen. And celebrations continued the day after (along with Gatorade for those who needed to rehydrate!). The beach is beautiful as well - a terrific, wide spot with perfect waves. The pool area is expansive, and there are more than enough restaurants and bar areas to keep all your food and beverage needs satiated in a convenient fashion. This was our first time in DR, and we will definitely be back, for the people, the beach, and all the amenities. Thank you, the folks at Occidental, for making our stay exceptional, and going out of your way to help us even after we had departed.

A terrific place for a winter getaway
We got here in the middle of January as it means to get away from the Toronto cold. The ride from the airport was uneventful and took about 30 minutes. Upon arrival, our check-in was very rapid. The staff are extremely kind and friendly. The restaurants are somewhat OK. The one we have liked the most so far has been the Mexican restaurant. The seafood one is subpar at best. The buffet is a pretty good option as long as you set your timing right to not have to fight through the barbarian hoard. The omelet stations provide a hearty variety. There are plenty of options to meet anyone’s pallet. There are also a lot of vegetarian options. The word to the wise. The local currency is Dominican pesos. It is a good idea to keep a lot of American one dollar bills with you, to be able to tip the staff. Although they are just as happy to receive pesos, the American dollar seems to hold a much greater allure. Also know that the ATM machine will not give you American currency. The front desk will not convert your currency to US dollars either. The only places where you can get change for your larger bills will be at the bar and the reception desk,as they receive a lot of American singles. The pool area is great. The beach is even greater. The gym area is well stocked, but I wish they had a rowing machine as that is my weapon of choice. there is generally a show at night at the main stage and it does get a bit loud, but they are nice enough to stop at around 11 PM at the latest. This is also a very family friendly resort and we are considering to come down here with the rest of our family at some point, next year. We highly recommend this resort. On a final note comma make sure to add the WhatsApp application to your phone as that is the easiest way to communicate with your concierge. Our concierge was incredibly attentive and we are very grateful for that.

Worst buffet and restaurants ever!!
Worst buffet and restaurants ever!! We all got sick after eating at the buffet after we first arrived. We read some reviews so we were all ready prepared for not so good food. It was so much worse than we thought! I don’t know how people can say the food was ok. The only thing we ate was omelette and toast for breakfast and for lunch we had made to order pasta. The restaurants were also terrible.
