Would we return to Paradisus? Never! Mosquitos, poor food, poor service.
We chose this resort as a good choice for a large family holiday. The weather was excellent as expected. However, there are several reasons why we will not choose Paradisus again. There are mosquitos around and in the ground floor suites. There is no fogging system to control them, but we were given a spray can when we complained. Ineffective solution and all nine of us were bitten, some badly. The buffet was very good and plenty of indoor/ outdoor seating. Staff friendly and efficient at clearing tables. However, it was impossible to book for meals at the restaurants- one desk and almost no availability. Finally we had to ask the senior manager to make bookings for us. Unfortunately, the service at all of the restaurants was shockingly slow and the food was sometimes inedible. In one restaurant we ordered mostly burgers (the choices were very limited and seemed the same in most restauarants). One burger came after an hour and we were still waiting a further 15 minutes before deciding to leave. A waitress came running out after us with a second burger and said 'they are coming, coming'. In the end, after several similar experiences, we decided that we would have to take breakfast, lunch and dinner at the buffet for the next seven days. Very disappointing. Our best meal was when we ordered room service on our last full day- wish we'd tried that earlier in our vacation! The resort claims it is ideal for families, and the little water park is good, although limited shady seating. We did not try the kids club as we prefer to enjoy our kids' company as a family. The 'entertainment' was basically an extremely sound system on a small podium just past the main atrium and next to the buffet restaurant with a singer or instrumentalist. Families with young children gathered in this open area with nothing to occupy them or offer them fun activities. One evening during our two week stay there was a bouncy castle on a grassy area, but that didn't appear again. What about having some kids' shows, magicians, comedy, films, etc? It could have been a fantastic holiday if the restaurant service and food had been better and there was more family-friendly activities on offer.

Service is the star here!
Four of us took a girls trip in February. The service was very excellent and on par or even with any other resort! The food and grounds/room were appropriate for the 3.5 stars. Some mediocre, some very good! Resort and rooms- the grounds are quite small as is the total capacity of guests. We were there for four nights and felt it was the right amount of time. Had we stayed longer, I would have wanted to take day trips or walk around the Hotel Zone for a change in scenery. We were in rooms 245-246 and had street noise on the weekend nights; these are standard rooms, not pool or ocean view! The rooms feel traditional and may be perceived as outdated by some; they were roomy and suitable for us. Food - There were live action stations at the Albatros Buffett each evening (taco grill, stir fry station) depending on the evening’s theme. We got two a la carte reservations for our four nights and chose both the Mexican (mains were excellent) and the Italian (good pastas.) We were able to make our reservations on arrival day for the current day and next two evenings. The food was not as great as other resorts I’ve been to, but there was always something we liked. Great breads and baked goods, fruit, tuna or pasta salad, and plenty of breakfast options that I enjoyed! There is essentially a lobby bar and a beach bar, and we enjoyed both. Service - absolutely wonderful! Sandra Cruz was an incredible server, making drink recommendations and remembering our favorites. Henri de Leon is a bartender at the beach bar and was a ton of fun! Meal service was always good; we appreciated how the buffet would accommodate our request to sit outside. Other reviews have pointed out the long check-in process. I felt our experience was on-par with other resorts, as they need to copy your passport, have you sign hotel policies, and run your credit card.

Amazing
Our stay at the Paradisus Punta Cana could not have been any better. The service was superb, especially Rafael who served us daily on the beach and had our chairs set up for us every day with a smile. The resort is spacious and gorgeous with delicious meal options in all their restaurants. Our concierge, Franklin was wonderful, kind and attentive to all our needs and questions. The entire staff made our visit a memorable one.

Staff not caring / passports stolen
Passports were stolen from members of my party, staff/resort didn’t seem to care and didn’t seem surprised at all. Did nothing to help. Never followed up with us or anything. Staff, generally wasn’t helpful to meet needs easily through out the trip. Food was good, but menus generally limited.
