    Absolutely wonderful!!!

I have visited this hotel many many times and that in itself speaks volumes, I am not easy to please. The entire hotel, rooms, public areas are spotless!! The staff are wonderful and truly go that extra mile to make you feel special and valued as a returning hotel patron. The food is wide spread and generous with many options - at times a little repetitive BUT you will find something to eat every single meal. The drinks are great and cocktails too. The location is peaceful, calm and relaxing and wonderfully scenic. I am going back AGAIN this year for all those reasons above and more.

    Stunning hotel.

Had a lovely time year for new year. The New Year’s Eve party was awesome, best I’ve seen in a hotel. Rooms clean and tidy. Cleaned every day. Also a party every Friday. Down side it’s a bit far out from adeje. There are a few bars and restaurants outside the hotel though.

Fantastic value for money, fantastic holiday

I've stayed in a couple of RIU hotels before, and so for a slightly last-minute break in Tenerife, this was one of the first I looked at. It was our very young son's first experience of an all-inclusive (and flying) and my parents were coming with us, so this was all factored into the comparison process with other hotels on the south side of the island. Overall, when comparing facilities and price, this hotel offered the best value for money on paper so we went for it. For transparency, I am a RIU class member and got a slightly discounted rate on the stay. First impressions: Looks like most of the other RIU resorts we've stayed at, just with a different building configuration. The reception staff were really friendly and got us checked in while another member of staff waited patiently with our luggage to take up to our rooms. Really big, airy lobby area with plenty of seating in several different styled areas. They gave us a breakdown of the facilities, where to eat/drink and which pools were heated (most of them). Excellent service from the team here. Room: We went for 2 family rooms as the price increase wasn't much at all and the rooms were huge. Large living area with double wardrobe, sofa bed, TV, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities and a decent sized balcony with chairs and a table on it. There was a nice sea view, along with a view of the banana plantation next door. The bedroom was again, decent sized with a large double bed, another double wardrobe, TV, separate toilet and a bathroom with a fantastic shower and plenty of space (including a hairdryer). The bedroom had it's own balcony (essentially an extension of the living room one with a wall down the middle) with drying rack and no furniture. The only real downside were the bath towels were a little small (although you could use the pool towels instead, which were much larger). The mini fridge in the living room wasn't serviced and there was nothing in it, but this wasn't a major issue as we didn't intend to spend much time in the room. Food: There are plenty of options around to eat. Breakfast was at the main buffet restaurant ("Yaiza") and had a really good selection of hot food, cold meat/cheese, pastries, oatmeal, bread/toast, pancakes, fruit and churros... you wouldn't go hungry. The selection was pretty much the same every day, with some minor tweaks. Lunch was available at either the main buffet or it's sister buffet further down the resort nearer the sea ("Atlantico") which opened 30mins earlier. The selection of food again was pretty good, with hot/cold options, cold meat and cheese, salad, breads, soups, a few Spanish dishes, desserts etc. They also seemed to use up some of the unused breakfast items for things like croissant sandwiches, which was good to see. Again, the selection changed a bit each day, but was mostly the same. Pepe's Food was also open up near the main stage, serving hotdogs, burgers, chips and salad if you just wanted a quick bite or a snack (self-serve, topped up constantly between 12:00-18:00). Dinner was where you got the most selection. Yaiza was open for the main buffet, with a similarly vast selection to lunch (again, with some minor changes each day). You could book one of the other restaurants if you wanted some variety (we had no issues at all securing bookings to all 3 via the app). The specialty restaurants are also buffet style, but have a narrower and more specific selection of dishes. Grill restaurant - in Atlantico during the evening, it does a sort of barbecue themed cuisine. It was fine for a change, but we wouldn't be rushing back as the options were a more limited version of the main buffet, but with ribs and grilled chicken instead. Dolce Vita - the Italian offering, with several different types of pasta and sauces, breads, meat options. We were pleasantly surprised, it was actually very good. Mandalay - their Asian restaurant (both south and east asian food) which I think was probably the best. Really good selection of different asian dishes, including a couple of nice curries, plenty of rice/poppadoms/prawn crackers, side dishes etc. Overall, the food was probably above expectations for what we booked. Yes its a bit samey in the main buffet and yes the desserts are pretty much the same across all restaurants, but by going to the specialty ones (at no extra cost and little extra effort) you could spice things up a bit and enjoy a good variety of stuff. Something for everyone, including our little boy, and all of us were very happy with what we got. Drinks: Pretty standard affair for a RIU - a selection of soft drinks, juices, coffee/tea, beer, spirits, wine and cocktails. You had a choice, either pour your own (beer/wine/soft drinks) or go to a bar and have someone pour it for you (they also did cocktails and sparkling wine at the bars). A couple of our group were drinking the non-alcoholic cocktails which were basic, but tasty. The beers are Amstel, Amstel 0.0% bottles or Cruzcampo Radler (absolutely fine, nothing special, nothing awful). We ended up buying our own cups from a shop up the road so we could have a slightly bigger beer as the cups/glasses provided are really small. Plenty of bars to choose from, plenty of options available, plenty of places to sit and enjoy your drinks - can't complain at all. You will not get table/lounger service - you have to either pour or request the drinks yourself. Any drinks to go up to your room, you'll have to get your own. With the small glasses and the distance to your room, it's not really worth it. Cleanliness: The place was immaculate. For a hotel so vast, I'm amazed they kept it so clean. Everything was cleaned every day, and most of the cups/plates were collected up regularly from the little drop-off stations for your empties. Smoking was largely confined to little corners of the resort, which was really good. Virtually nobody smoking poolside at all. Genuinely, one of the cleaner hotels I've stayed at. Local Amenities: There is a small shopping centre up the road, with clothes shops, restaurants, a bar and a supermarket (pretty well stocked considering the size). It's about 10mins walk (up hill) and theres a little beach nearby that you can get to using the coastal path that snakes along the perimeter of the hotel. We went to Los Cristianos and Playa Las Americas for a bit of tourist overload, cost about €45 in an Uber to get there, but got a standard taxi on the way back and it was like €25. If you try and book a regular taxi on the Uber app, it likely won't get picked up as an Uber will make them more money. The hotel were more than happy to sort us out a taxi in about a minute when we requested. The included airport transfers were hit and miss, long delay at the airport waiting and then a quoted 1hr 20min journy to the airport from the hotel - so we got a taxi for €45 instead (20mins, much easier). Overall, all of our party were really impressed with what we got and how much we paid for it. Excellent hotel, not the height of luxury at all but clean, friendly staff, quick responses to queries and requests made via the app and a great choice of food/drink. There were loads of families with young children and the hotel caters for them really well. I would definitely come back here again without hesitation

Nice Christmas and New Years holidays at Riu Buenavista

We were very happy with our two weeks in your hotel. The negative things were few and not dramatic. Maybe the fact that the red wine was cold and not of the best brand. And that the area around the hotel was a bit boring. No cafés, bars or shops.
