Jan 18, 2025Wonderful Holiday
I returned from this hotel a week ago and I really wanted to write my experience of my trip. The hotel is very big and very busy however, there were always enough sun lounges on the beach. Our room was cleaned everyday throughout our stay and it was at my choice on whether I wanted to tip the staff. There is no pressure to do this however, I feel the hotel staff work hard and decided to tip the cleaners as well as the restaurant staff. The main buffet room is very busy and food was replenish at a timely manner. I celebrated my birthday while on holiday and thanks to the staff in the Italian restaurant who sang Happy Birthday to me and presented me with a cake. We visited Dunns River as well as the Blue Mountain tour. We also participated in River Rafting and horseback riding in the sea. This was an amazing experience. These excursions were all booked at the front of the hotel and they organise for the transport to meet and take you back. I would recommended anyone visiting to download the Rui App as you can top up your mini bar request as well as book in one of the other restaurants through the App. The staff work consistently to keep the hotel clean and I don't think they get the credit they deserve. Well done to the entertainment team who kept everyone going in the evenings. I enjoyed the Michael Jackson evening and I thought the Beach Party with the DJ on the decks was the best. Well done to hotel Riu for organising New Year's Eve. I walked into the food hall after a short que but was pleasantly surprised at the whole layout and the effort made for New Year's eve. I enjoyed the fireworks as well. Thank you hotel Riu for a good start to 2025, I look forward to returning again in the future.

My family and I, along with our friends who were experiencing the magic of Jamaica for the very first time, had an absolutely unforgettable stay at Rui Ocho Rios! The atmosphere was alive with vibrant energy, and the staff were fantastic—so friendly and eager to help! Every single moment turned into an exhilarating adventure, and we truly had the time of our lives! The only downside? The morning hustle and bustle from housekeeping outside our room could get a bit noisy at times. But honestly, it was a small price to pay for such an incredible experience!

Jan 16, 2025Some Unnecessary Issues on the Hotel's Part, But Overall a Decent Stay. Not Sure If I’d Recommend.
I was extremely disappointed with the alcohol dispenser and bottled water situation during my stay. The alcohol dispenser in my room’s bar was filthy, and it took two days to get it cleaned after I submitted a request through the app and spoke with housekeeping. Only after I followed up did a second staff member finally assist me. Additionally, when I asked for a bottle of water at the front desk, I was told I would have to wait until the evening. I was near the main stage and didn’t want to walk all the way back to my room, so I thought I’d simply ask for a bottle since only tap water was available. Again, I was told to wait until the evening, and that someone would bring one to me. It seems there’s an abundance of alcohol available, but very limited access to bottled water. On the positive side, the resort itself is nice—beautiful beach, great pools, good food, and entertainment. However, based on my experience with the alcohol dispenser and the bottled water issue, I’m unsure if I would recommend this location or if I’m returning in the returning. On the first day, I didn’t even notice the condition of the alcohol dispenser and drank from it, which makes me concerned about health risks.

On arrival no greeting from reception staff, given our cards to our rooms no offer of help with luggage . The rooms seemed nice and clean . The hairdryer in room did not work for 2 days and wardrobe door was hanging of , the safe wasn’t working . But after speaking to the assistant manager these things got sorted . The staff at the hotel are very rude . I have never witnessed I have never witnessed such rudeness before in a hotel . Only 10% of staff was lovely . The entertainment team very much look after themselves, ( what I mean is they entertain themselves more than the hotel guests . We stayed in montage bay last year and it was excellent . I was so excited about going back to Jamaica for this reason but after our stay in Riu Ocho Rios hotel , I never want to go back . Please if you’re looking to go to ocho Rios please don’t stay in this hotel.

AINT NO SUNSHINE WHEN YOU'RE GONE
the position of the hotel on the ide is not ideal. the only way to get sun is in the morning and have you lounger set up parallel to the sea.
