Jan 16, 2025Good but with a suggestion to improve
Overall we had a very good trip and liked the Riu Yucatan. The beach was fabulous which worked as the main pool was crowded and hard to get a chair. The Ibiza pool that was more quiet was nice to relax at. Food and entertainment were good and the room was fine, but we didn’t go to hang out in the room. The room was clean and most staff were good. The pool temp was a bit on the chilly side. However, my adult daughter entered the poolside restaurant in her one piece bathing suit (she was dry) and an employee rudely just told her to ‘get out’. She had forgot to put a cover up on. Throughout the week we noticed many people and kids in just swim trunks and string bikinis with no shirt or cover up in the restaurant. I would suggest that the clothing attire policy be applied evenly and to everyone or not at all. And when doing so, staff can kindly remind quests rather than be ignorant/rude.

Riu Yucatan doesn’t disappoint!! Great location, beautiful beach, excellent food! Perfect after Christmas holiday.

What we liked most was the great variety of food and the punctuality of the restaurants as well as the excellent service. We had a small problem with the room because it was very noisy and they changed it promptly. On the other hand, the hotel facilities are very adequate. Our only suggestion is regarding the cleaning of the floor since in almost all the closed areas there is no grease. Perhaps the cleaning should be intensified or cleaning products should be changed.

Bringing in the New Year at Riu Yucatan
My wife and I, along with our 2 kids (17 / 20yr old) stayed at the Yucatan from 12/31 to 1/7. Check-in was effortless, with our kids getting a separate room in an adjacent building per our choice. Beach is amazing. No rocks on the beach or in the water. We didn't hang by the pool as we prefer the beach. Good action everyday with volleyball and other activities going on. As most other reviews point out, the rooms could stand to be freshened up. Didn't bother us since we didn't go there to sit in the room. Staff did a great job keeping the room and rest of property very clean. Food is a 3 out of 5. We didn't expect culinary excellence at this price point so we were not disappointed. You could always find something tasty and the evening restaurant options are a nice change of pace. If you are looking for good value and an amazing beach, this is the place.

10-Night Stay
Good staff in every department: reception, housekeeping, food and beverage. It's not new, so the property itself has some imperfections. Nothing egregious. Enjoyed being able to join in on beach volleyball and taking the Hobie Cat out for a sail. Gym equipment was dated, but functional. Preferred the entertainment at the RUI I stayed at in Cabo, but that was an adults only property. Maybe that made the difference? Overall, thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.
