    Showing its age; some pros and cons

    We just returned from a 7 day stay at this resort. Because we are a family of 5, rooms can be a challenge. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite (19232-19230). We did a Sunwing package and my suitcase was badly damaged and dented upon arrival in Punta Cana. Although I tried to book a private shuttle to get there, our travel agent was not helpful on this front, so we went on the Coach bus, which was fine. Upon arrival, no drink or cooling towel as you experience at most resorts. We were taken on a golf cart with our suitcases (not a comfortable ride) to the Diamond Club which was lackluster in comparison to other clubs at other resorts. We waited more than 30 minutes before we were checked in and then taken to our room. We understood that given Easter, the resort was busy, but there was a lack of communication about the process. Our room was fine. No black mold, but missing lights, outlets not working and the suite showed its age. Yenny was our butler, and she was great. However, make sure you do your homework about what is included in the Diamond Club and avail yourself of those amenities, otherwise, you will not receive them. We never received our bottle of alcohol, although requested. We did have a hydrotherapy session at the spa, which is included. The kids did the Flow Rider, which is available to DC at 9am and 2pm everyday for 1 hour. We did not go to Splash for the water park, as we enjoyed the beach instead. The kids participated in obstacle courses, painting sessions and other sports. I did the water aerobics. The food was mediocre to say the least. The Breakfast at the Ocenside Grill for DC, was a smaller version of the large buffet. The Omelette guy was great and there was a pregnant server for DC areas, who was great. We did the Hibachi experience twice and it is not consistent re cook and taste. Grazie was terrible for service and food. The ad hoc lunch set ups by the infinity pool were good. The coffee shop is terrible. The staff are rude and the drinks are terrible. The DC bar and lunch spot was wonderful and it is beautiful to eat by the ocean. The bartenders throughout were great and very polite, which was appreciated. The shows are not great. The ocean scene was lovely. Housekeeping was good. The person who stocks the bar and provides snacks missed our room a few days and was not good at providing bottled water. We did family photos with the onsite photographer and the photos were disappointing. Overall, was not worth what we paid.

    Service at the Marriott Punta Cana

    Kelvin provided our group at the Marriott with wonderful service and made our visit seamless. He was responsive, helpful and kind. He has such an affable manner about him that he was a joy to interact with. We were so appreciative to have Kelvin working with us.

    Diamond club

    The room is always really clean. Ramon our butler was super helpful and booked us dinners right away and got us anything we asked for as well. The place is amazing as well. The food is high quality. The entire experience was stress free and relaxing and Ramon was there to help us with everything!

    Vacation

    The butler was good! He was here whenever we needed him! When we requested something he made it happen. He helped us book cabanas! The diamond club is the best part of this hotel! It’s a must see experience!! You won’t regret it! Everything is handled and very clean!

    Randy our diamond club butler is amazing

    Resort was beautiful and Randy our butler I would rank above 5 stars if I could . He was sooo attentive and helped our family with any needs that we asked. Reservations were made for multiple families together and he was so polite . The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because the food was not the best and deserved 4 stars. We stayed in the 2 bedroom chairman suite swim out which was beautiful !
