Great resort-great Beach-Great people-Treated like royalty
4-7-2025 My wife and I stayed at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino from March 31st to April 6th. The weather was perfect. Hot with a nice consistent breeze. The ocean was crystal clear, and the beach was immaculate. The pool was changed to salt water recently. All the rooms, and lobby we recently renovated. The hotel is immaculate. We keep going back to this resort because of the people. They can't do enough for the guests and treat us like royalty. I'd like to mention some of the amazing people that work at the resort. Olga Areizaga helped us with our reservation. She treats us like family. Jose Gonzalez the area General manager greeted us and also said whatever we need, he'll get for us. Carlos, Rita, Richard, and the rest of the people that take care of the pool and beach areas, are amazing. The people in the restaurant, and front desk are outstanding. Especially Adiarys Nicole Ayala, Marlene Delgado, Adeline Franco, Jean Baez, Nelson Garcia, and Felix DeJesus were over the top nice and very accommodating. The people working the beach to set up chairs and umbrella daily, were spot on. Every day when we got the beach our chairs and umbrella were waiting for us. Cold towels and ice pops were brought to us daily. As far as the hotel itself, we like it because of the convenience and beauty. You can be on the beach, or at the pool, in just 2-3 minutes after leaving your room. The pool bar is great. Sit in the pool and eat, drink and be merry. They have many games to play from Beach volley ball, ping pong bean bag toss, bingo, and Water aerobics. The bartenders are very friendly and hard working. Janette, and Cynthia, keep the drinks flowing and are just amazingly nice and friendly. The location of the hotel is appealing as well. Walk out the front doors and to the left and right all within walking distance you have all the convenience stores, shops, and restaurants you could ask for, with a variety of food types. Walk out the back to the beach and pool and your in vacation paradise. The hotel is 15 minutes from the airport, and 20 minutes from Old San Juan which is an eating and shopping paradise. In closing with all the good things this hotel has to offer, it's the people throughout the hotel in every department that keep us coming back. They are outstanding. The Island is back and ready for tourists. Try it you won't be disappointed. AH

Average hotel at Luxury price
To save you from reading the entire review, the headline is that the hotel is nice, but not remotely close to what the nightly bill amounts to. There are quite a few positives about the resort and it is important to recognize those. Arriving after midnight with a tired family, the front desk team was friendly, helpful and efficient, even while checking in multiple airline employees. The location is ideal as it is on the main drag but just enough out of the middle of things that it is never too crazy. The beach is well maintained and the pool seemed to be the right size for the hotel, despite it being crowded. As a few of the other reviews have pointed out, and maybe it was because of the overly busy holiday week, the staff was less than friendly. The pool patrols seemed hellbent set on ensuring no one laughed or smiled while at the pool. The food options are limited inside the hotel, but plenty of options are available within a 2 minute walk. last, the rooms simply are dated. Another review mentioned that the rooms had been renovated but didn't look like it. Until reading that review, I would have never guessed that the rooms had been updated. All in all, "average" is about right, but unfortunately, you are not charged an average price.

Not as good as I expected.
The rooms are somewhat small in the bedroom. Living room is decent and modern. Beautiful view from our balcony. The cons are as follows: there is only one outlet on one side of the bed. I could not charge my phone by the bed. Very limited menu items at the restaurant. Being here for 6 days, the menu did not include chicken. The staff are nice but I would not come here again especially for the price. I am here now in May 20th. No microwave either. This is my first night!!

3 star resort with 5 star pricing
This is a 3 star property with 5 star pricing. The service was not great and the rooms were average at best. Our bathroom tub was dirty, and the toilet paper holder appeared to be hot glued to the wall, though still loose and the touch up paint was crumbling. There appeared to be tons of locals taking over the pool without wrist bands. The checkin agent wasn’t particularly nice. The only positive interactions with staff was the valet, bellman, and security guard outside of the Casio, who joked with our kids while we walked by. The coffee shop downstairs is ridiculously over priced, 22.00 for a small quesadillas. 8.00 for a water. We paid 1500.00 for two nights and they would not allow us to check out at noon instead of 11. Ultimately we’re happy to head to the airport early. I would not come back to this resort.

Beautiful Property, But Disappointing Service As a Marriott Platinum Member, I Expected Better
I recently stayed at the San Juan Marriott to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday with our children, and overall, we had a good time. This was my second visit to the property, and I chose to return because of my previous experience and the fact that I’m a Platinum Member with Marriott. I generally expect a certain standard of service—and while there were some highlights, there were also some disappointing moments. First, I want to recognize Ivanna Santiago, who helped us plan activities during our stay. She was outstanding—friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Her energy made us feel genuinely welcomed, and she went above and beyond to assist us with our questions. Unfortunately, not all of the staff interactions reflected the same level of service. One negative experience happened during breakfast. I don’t remember her name, but the hostess—a shorter woman with curly red hair—allowed another family to be seated ahead of us outside, even though we had arrived first. It felt very dismissive and unfair, especially when traveling as a family with kids. Another disappointing moment occurred when I went to book the Puerto Rico Night Kayak Tour. Ivanna referred me to Matilda to finalize the booking, but when I approached her, she didn’t even greet me. She simply pointed at me to wait. I patiently stood there for about 15 minutes while she remained on her computer, never acknowledging me. When she finally addressed me, she passed me a piece of paper and told me to book it myself—this, after watching her warmly assist the guest before me. The contrast in treatment made me feel extremely uncomfortable, to the point where I no longer felt comfortable proceeding with the booking. As a loyal Marriott Platinum Member, I hold the brand to a higher standard. While I appreciated the resort’s beauty and some of the great service—especially from Ivanna—the inconsistencies and uncomfortable interactions left a lasting impression. Sadly, despite being a returning guest, I do not plan to come back after this experience.

- AdvisoryThe hotel has completed the lobby and front desk remodel. Lobby looks fantastic, much more space and a more personalized front desk.
- AdvisoryThe renovation at the resort has now been completed, which unveils a stunning new chapter for this iconic destination. With refreshed rooms, reimagined spaces, and an infusion of modern elegance, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to elevate the guest experience. Whether you’re savoring sunset views by the pool or unwinding in the sleek, stylish interiors, the Resort is ready to welcome you to a renewed paradise where comfort and beauty meet the spirit of Puerto Rico.
