Beautiful grounds decent food and service
We went for a week with my wife and our 10 yo son. The grounds are really beautiful and there’s lots to do. The wildlife is great especially seeing spider monkeys, ton of coati’s and iguana and saw a couple agouti’s. The beach is not for everyone. The sand is nice but the ocean is Rocky front section is less rocky a calm and a lot of people still seemed to enjoy it. I like snorkeling so it was fine for me (although I like playing with my son in the waves and you can’t do that there) If you go past the first section of rocks you start to see more and bigger fish. It’s well worth it to bring water shoes. For this time of year the Ocean was very clear until about 2 then the tide would rise and it would be cloudier and at high tide a little dangerous if your out far near rocks with big waves.Best to snorkel early. At the hotel I snorkeled in the cenote that’s close to the lobby and saw some big fish and a few turtles. We also did the jade river tour and saw some fish and turtles and swimming in a mangrove forest was very cool. I did the bird tour which they said was a safari tour. Daniel gave a great tour and we saw and learned about all the local animals on sight. My son really liked the petting zoo tour where they fed donkeys, pigs and bunnies. We also did a kayak tour at the beach which was nice talking to others and relaxing. We also went out on our own which was good too. The food was fine. We like the taco place. My son enjoyed the hibachi restaurant. The buffet was decent. The water park was really nice it was open about half the week when we were there. The adults only section was very nice. We had some nice breakfast there. The pool was quiet were the main pool is more of a party. At the adults place you could grab sandwiches drinks and snacks. One small issue and tip. My wife left her clothes on the bench in the bathroom. The cleaning service accidentally picked it up and it was in with the towels and we got it back. She did the same thing the next day and the same thing must of happened and we didn’t notice until we were leaving in the morning. Overall it was a great place and the workers were nice.

Horrible Experience – Health Risk, Poor Management, and Zero Accountability
I stayed at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort in April 2024 with my 9-year-old son, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. What was supposed to be a relaxing, all-inclusive vacation quickly turned into one of the most stressful and upsetting experiences I’ve ever had while traveling. Check-in took about an hour, even though I had completed online check-in beforehand. During this wait, I was publicly asked personal questions about my age and marital status, and why I was traveling alone with a child—all in front of other guests. It was uncomfortable and unnecessary. The room we were given was in terrible condition: • Clogged sink, rusted mirror, and mold on the walls • Wallpaper peeling off, broken phone, non-working TV remote, and an extremely loud AC unit • Everything felt damp, dirty, and poorly maintained It was far from what I expected from a resort that markets itself as “eco-luxury.” The worst part came when my 9-year-old son got sick. I asked for medical help, and was told a doctor was available onsite, but I would have to pay for the visit. A staff member later suggested that the resort would cover the cost—but only if I agreed not to post anything negative online. I refused, and their attitude turned cold and defensive. I paid for the visit myself. The doctor diagnosed my son with a bacterial infection, most likely from contaminated food or pool water, and prescribed him antibiotics. When I calmly and politely brought this to the attention of management, hoping for a resolution or at least accountability, I was dismissed, spoken over, and treated as if I were the problem. I never raised my voice, but they certainly did. I was met with yelling, defensiveness, and zero responsibility taken. To make things worse, I was never informed about many of the amenities included in the all-inclusive package, which meant I missed out on services I had paid for. When I asked about this, again, I was met with shrugs and blame-shifting. When I asked for a refund, I was told the resort doesn’t handle that and I’d have to contact Booking.com. According to them, they weren’t responsible for anything that happened during my stay. Unbelievable. They also trick you into booking transportation through Seek & Go, which costs twice as much as a regular taxi — even though taxis are readily available right in front of the lobby. They don’t mention that at all. While a few individual employees were kind, the overall management, hygiene, communication, and ethics of this place are appalling. If you care about your health, your peace of mind, or getting what you paid for — look elsewhere. This place should be avoided until major improvements are made.

Loved my hair!
I really loved the hair salon!!!! Perfect for my daughter's wedding. The stylists were very professional stylists and it was a great experience. I asked for a difficult style and it turned out great. I would highly recommend the salon for any event.

Unique family vacation spot
Went with our family of four (8yo and 11yo) and loved it!! Loved all the animals and unique opportunities like swimming in the cenote, snorkeling, and riding bikes to the Mayan ruins. Everything was very clean and everyone was friendly and helpful. Buffet food was average, but we were able to get reservations for all four specialty restaurants. The teppanyaki was my favorite, and my husband loved the brazilllian steakhouse. It was so cool to see all the monkeys and other animals running around and they had dispensers of mosquito lotion if needed but I only found it buggy when we did the night shows outdoors. We really enjoyed the uniqueness of this resort and it was perfect for our family!

Stay somewhere else
0 out of 0. Service is sub par. Seems good as long as you don’t need anything. AC was broken Fridge was broken You have to book your restaurant times to eat… good luck with them writing down the correct times. Had to miss dinner because of this. For the cost of this trip, the service should have been way better.
