Jan 18, 2025Loved our vacation at Secrets Riviera Maya
Our stay was excellent. The entertainment staff around the pool was excellent. Steven provided regular activities encouraging people to get involved, but respecting their wish to relax and enjoy the sun. Guillermo had a tough job managing chairs in the pool area and on the beach. Overall, he did a great job in very difficult circumstances. Mar, Cruz, Urbano kept the drinks coming throughout the day. We ate in all of the restaurants. Some of the meals were better than others. We did not have a bad meal. Rosewater, is a nice refuge for Secrets guests with live music in the evening with dinner. We danced to the silent disco which was a lot of fun. We spent one evening in the Afterdark club and had a great time dancing until 1am. Haven't done that in a very long time. We met very interesting people, and had a memorable vacation.

Just returned back from nice vacation at secrets riviera Cancun. Let me start by saying this is a beautiful resort.We found all the restaurants very good esp the rosemary.The nighttime entertainment wasnt has good as we have had at other all inclusive resorts.The main disappointment with this trip is THE BEACH it is the worst we have seen in over a dozen resorts we have been to.I seen one man swim in water the first 6 days of our trip.Their is smelly water flowing our from both sides of the resort.Like i said the resort is beautiful but if you like a beach to swim in this is NOT the resort for you I didnt go swiming at all in 8 days there ,and i love to swim.For this reason i will not be returning to this resort.

Great time
Stayed at Secrets and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere but enjoyed the option to go to Breathless for more activities, music, and excitement. Enjoyed the beach, pool, preferred bar , and all the restaurants. The steak at the Stripe restaurant was excellent.

Jan 16, 2025If you have stayed at Secrets or other Luxury All Inclusive Resorts, you will be disappointed.
Based on other reviews on TripAdvisor, I expect that this review will be read and responded to by the staff. If you read this please notice that the same issues come up repeatedly, and the responses from Secrets will state that they will learn and improve, yet the same issues continue to happen. The management / leadership at this resort is not focused on a culture of service excellence. They are focused on culture of sales and policing policies. I have stayed at over 15 all inclusives, mostly Excellence Secrets and Sandals. I’ve stayed at 5 other Secrets resorts in the last 10 years. This by far the worst all inclusive experience I have had. I am unlikely to return to Secrets after this trip. Staff is not responsive to issues. Instead they seem inconvenienced and make excuses. Very telling was that we were NOT asked at check out how our stay was. Why? Because they do not want to hear your answer!!! We booked one of the top level rooms in Preferred Club, yet we were sold at almost every turn. Instead of being all inclusive we were hard sold amenities that are normally included. No liquor in our room. Had to pay extra for it. Snacks which are always included were not provided. When asked we’re told this is no longer provided amenity by Secrets. Couldn’t do hibachi with my group of friends unless we bought a $300 bottle of wine. All pool chairs are claimed by 7:00 am. Want a spot by the pool? Again buy a bottle of liquor or join the Unlimited club and you’ll get a seat. When we did buy a reserved pool area the server, David, acted put-out all day for simple requests. Had to ask for cups and ice and mixers to even drink from the bottle we were forced to buy. We booked with a known vacation company, and were supposed to receive a bottle of Sparkling Wine with our booking. When we inquired, the Preferred Club staff had to “check on it” then blamed the booking company for not sharing with them. After that it still took 3 days and multiple requests to get the bottle actually delivered. We booked the Ocean Front swim out. The water in this pool was not heated making the swim out unusable and a complete waste of money. We checked, all other swim outs were heated. They are draining rain water run off directly into the ocean making it muddy brown, and unclear if it is sanitary. The man in charge of towels etc at the pool/beach area is aggressive and unpleasant. He is more worried about catching people than helping people have a great experience at the pool and beach. Our group of 8 was on the beach with 8 chairs. Because 4 from our group were playing volleyball he aggressively made us all recite our room numbers. He miscounted and told us we had too many chairs. When we helped him recount and he saw we in fact had the right amount he left quietly. We had to wait 60-90 minutes to eat every night. Could not make reservations but also could not eat when we wanted, unless we went to the buffet. Bottom line is we are very unlikely to return to Secrets in the future. Not sure if Hyatt purchase has changed their Values or if this is a specific Management issue at this resort. Either way we will take our next trip to Excellence or another Luxury All-Inclusive.

Large resort. It was not as luxurious as described. Sewage smell throughout the resort. Not a beach resort. Swimming pool area was great! Food in specialty restaurants was average and service could have been better. Best restaurant is Rosewater. Spoon buffet restaurant offered good variety.
