Apr 14, 2025Best Hotel I've Stayed At
Staying at The Surfjack Hotel and Swim Club has got to be the best decision I made vacationing in Waikiki. We had such great service from everyone we encountered including the maintenance man. We especially want to shout out Hoku, Selinda, Whitney, and Kylie for being so amazing in making our vacation so memorable. There is a fabulous restaurant/bar here called Mahina & Sun's that had great drinks and food and the perfect ambience you want while on vacation. They had live music nightly and the musicians played so beautifully. They even took our request to play Pink Floyd's "I Wish You Were Here," which matched the saying in their famous pool. This hotel is also so close to just about everything you want to see and do in Waikiki it pretty much in the perfect location. Honestly can't wait to plan my next Hawaiian vacation and I will definitely be booking with the Surfjack again.

Totally awesome vibe
What a total awesome surprise. The vibe is so much cooler than we expected. Mind blown when we had two different confirmations checking in, turned out we had been upgraded to adjoining suites — just because they could. The pool scene is chill, the evening music was tremendous, and the restaurant ended up being one of our best experiences on the island. Ask for Alice. The beds were super comfy, the pillows were amazing. This was such a great experience we will be back.

Worth the $$$
Clean, comfortable, nice pool, friendly staff. Worth the $$$. My first time back to Oahu in about 15 years. Morning coffee by the pool while I catch up on news was quiet, and the in-house coffee shop was really convenient. A sunscreen dispenser near the pool was a nice extra touch.

great for families and dogs, clean and well appointed but not stuffy, super convenient location and amenities, the vibe was easygoing, lots of outdoor space (both sun and shade) to hang out and read or chat with friends, very friendly staff

Comfortable, well located hotel with lots of personality
Staff was SO friendly and helpful, and our room was cute and comfortable -- we were in a 1 BR suite and it was really great to have the extra space. We were up on the 9th floor facing away from the pool, so it was very quiet (a high priority for us!) and we had a nice view out to the mountainside. The location is great, easily walkable to lots of restaurants, shops, and the beach. Parking is just a couple blocks away and SO cheap (just make sure to move your car every 24 hours -- but if you're not doing that, do you really need a car?) Free coffee and tea downstairs in the mornings. Lots of cute and very well-behaved doggos around to pet :) The humans staying here were nice too -- a mix of young people, families, couples, older folks, wedding groups, etc. A few things to note: The pool is super nice and popular in the mornings and afternoons, but it's not really usable in the evenings unless you want to swim in front of a bunch of people eating a nice dinner (which seemed weird for all involved parties). Relatedly, the "no outside food/drink in the lobby" policy is kind of weird, especially when you're waiting for your room to be ready and just need a place to hang out. It definitely made the lobby feel more dedicated to the restaurant than the hotel, which is fine, just not what I'm used to. The wifi seemed fine in most of the hotel, but it was basically unusable in our room. The TV doesn't have streaming services; that would be a nice update at some point.
