We arrived a bit early for check in so we waited on our room.
Once our room was ready, we were quite tired after a long overnight flight but happy to have a heavenly bed for a nap before dinner. WELL, there was construction on the other side of the wall from the heavely bed. Quite literally hammering against our heads. No warning, no signs or emails saying construction was happening in the hotel. But when I walked next door to knock, the person opened the door apologized and said they were nearly finished. I could see the room was fully being renovated with tarps covering the furniture and ladders in the room. So while in the afternoon the construction finally halted, the next morning it started again. Not at all what we planned when we booked this place.
And when we contacted the front desk, the response was as if we were the ones bothering them as if construction should be expected.
We regularly stay in Westins and have always been beyond happy with each, especially in Europe (the Europa and Regina Venice was a Westin the two times we stayed and it is still my favorite hotel I've ever stayed in), but this particular Westin I would not recommend at all.
Another odd thing, not the fault of the hotel, but we could hear a nightclub at 1am so bring earplugs for that as well as any unexpected construction noise.
Staff are all unfriendly even when you go out of your way to be friendly to them. Perhaps they prefer not to have guests and this behavior will help them achieve that goal! I'll avoid this hotel in the future!

Outstanding stay!
This hotel is grand. The rooms are large and comfortable, the location is convenient to the metro and the staff is very professional. Although there are many restaurants within walking distance, be sure to have breakfast or dinner in the restaurant. The breakfast buffet is excellent and dinner was tasty. The lobby and bar are great places to relax and enjoy the live music.

Great Stay
We were very happy with our stay at The Westin. The hotel is beautiful and we really enjoyed our balcony and the view. We were able to easily walk everywhere we wanted to go. The front desk and doormen were always very helpful. Lots of fresh choices on the breakfast buffet and of course my pastries I love. Always right at our door when we picked up the phone for coffee or ice. Would choose The Westin again in Rome.

My son and I recently had the great pleasure of a further stay at The Westin Excelsior, Rome. Once again, it was an incredible experience in every way. The hotel is beautiful. The reception, the restaurant and café with its fantastic food, the stunning bar and lounge area with the gentleman playing the piano and singing, and all the staff in the hotel with their first-class customer service, are all amazing. I am sad to leave this wonderful hotel and always hoping to return.

Lovely hotel and staff
I was a bit skeptical initially as I faced some communication issues with the staff. However, once I physically reached the hotel everything went super smooth. The staff was great and check-in was swift. The best part was the upgrade I got as a Titanium member to the grande luxe suite. It was wonderful and had 2 full bathrooms. The location is unbeatable. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. It was really difficult to leave this place.
