Rundown property and negative staff who do not care about the guests
Terrible service. The bar staff and waiters were all rude. We were supposed to all have all inclusive but were told we couldn’t have things even though we had paperwork that said we could. Property is run down and not safe- big trip hazards, duct tape holding things together. Iguanas pooping in the pool constantly and trash by pool chairs from overnight. Would NOT stay here- instead go to the Marriott a few doors down where staff much more pleasant and property is beautiful. This is not what I would expect from a Westin property.

Back to the Marriott next time
7th visit to Puerto Vallarta. Being platinum we thought we'd change from our usual Marriott and give Westin a try. Bad idea! Took 1 1/2 hour to check-in. Upgraded to a large room with full ocean view but room 810 was in need of a rehab. Out of our 7 nights we had 2 with water issues. First brown water then No water. Entire resort needs an upgrade. The pool chairs were the best ever. Friendly staff. Breakfast buffet was the delicious = good variety of everything including daily changes.

Quite the let down
This is a hotel that should cost $150usd max. We paid $450 per night for these drab accommodations. The hotel is in need of major TLC. The pool was pretty murky and not well designed. The room was similar to the rest of the property - in need of repair. And not just a quick fix. You could easily see all the repairs that had been done. From the styrofoam block placed behind the toilet, to the substandard plaster repairs. I mean, if you’re charging a grip for the accommodations, take some pride in the hotel. This was our 5th time staying in the marina vallarta area and would never stay here again. We generally stay at the Marriott down the road. Even though the hotel was unacceptable, all the staff were so amazing and kind. The state of the hotel is not a reflection on them. It is a reflection of Marriott/Bonvoy greed.

A great family stay - outstanding service
We stayed at the Westin Puerto Vallarta over the holidays for a family vacation and had an excellent experience. The rooms were incredibly comfortable, providing the perfect setting to relax after a day of activities. The food at the resort was outstanding, with a great selection and beautifully presented dishes that catered to all tastes. The staff truly stood out—friendly, professional, and always ready to assist, making our stay even more enjoyable. The resort itself offers plenty of space around the pool to unwind, and the oceanfront location is fantastic. We particularly loved the opportunity to take peaceful 30-minute walks along the beach. Another advantage is the resort's proximity to the Marina, which offers additional dining options and a vibrant atmosphere just a short distance away. Overall, this resort is an excellent choice for a few days of relaxation and fun. Highly recommend!

Not up to Westin standards and food was terrible
I have stayed at many Westin resorts but was disappointed by my recent stay in Puerto Vallarta. The resort is outdated and we had several issues. However, the staff was very nice so I don't blame them for the service. 1. When we checked in, there were only two people at reception and no special line for Bonvoy members. We had to wait over 20 minutes in line to check in. 2. We booked a penthouse suite but the pull out sofa mattress was very uncomfortable for our teenage son. We also ordered an extra rollaway bed but it was not in the room and had to call twice to get it delivered. There was also no bedding in the room for the sofa bed so we had to request that as well. 3. The food at the resort was subpar and overpriced. We ate at both Arrecifes and El Palmar and the meals were just okay. My husband ordered a steak at Arrecifes that was a very thin cut of meat and overcooked. We had the Christmas Day buffet at El Palmar and the buffet food was terrible (proteins were dry and overcooked, salad bar was lacking) and definitely not worth the money. 4. We had some snacks in our room and noticed small ants crawling in some cookies we bought. We had to seal up all of our snacks extra well to avoid the ants! 5. The beach is small and rocky, there are much nicer beaches in other parts of the city!
